A music arts supplement is an extra submission that showcases your musical ability. Top colleges use this to recruit musicians who can be in their orchestras, choirs, and other music programs.

You do not need to be a music major to submit a supplement. All of the examples in the course are by students who majored in a field that is not music.

To create an arts supplement, musicians will present 2-3 videos of their playing. Most colleges will also allow you to submit a music resume and a letter of recommendation. A few schools will ask for additional supplemental essays. We'll look at examples from my students for each part of the supplement.

For the videos, I'll show seven of my best students’ submissions. You'll see:

1. A violin player accepted early decision to Amherst

2. A violinist/conductor accepted early decision to Columbia

3. An oboe player accepted to Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, and Penn

4. An oboe player accepted to Harvard, Yale, and Stanford

5. A flute player accepted to Yale and Brown

6. A french horn player accepted to Barnard and Vassar

7. A piano player accepted early decision to University of Chicago

Located below are screenshots from my video commentary of these students' submissions. The full videos are viewable in the course.

For the resume, I'll provide an example resume that is based on my student who was accepted to every school that he applied to: Harvard, Yale, MIT, Caltech, Stanford, and Princeton. Here is the first page of the resume.

For the letter of recommendation, I’ll show you two letters that I wrote to students who were accepted to multiple Ivies, and I’ll give you a template email that you can send to your music teacher to help them write a similar letter.

In addition, I’ll provide insight into the entire process from everything from how to submit through the portal to how the supplement is graded.

This course provides all of the tools to submit a winning supplement quickly with a proven course of action.
